Yeah, it was stiill a good deal. If i wanted i could turn around and sell the bike for 4500 right now. I have been eyeing those 05 gsxr1000, but everyone and their mother has a gsxr. 636 is a nice bike though, i have no complaints, i like it better than my friends 01 f4i

go on craigslist and buy a honda f4i
they are a 600 that is fuel injected so no jetting also they are a bit down on hp conpared to the cbr600rr (rr has about 108hp the f4i has about 95-98hp) but it has way more bottomend and midrange torque and (the difference is like comparing the torque in a d15 and a h22) also they are still pretty fast (0-60 in about 3.2 with a good rider) and they are a dime a dozen i bought a 2002 f4i for $2100 in the summer of 06 it had 12k on it but i have had no problems and the best part is if you ever want to get rid of it the value keeps going up because it is like the holey grail of noob stunt bikes (the f4i to stunting is like the ae86 is to drifting) also they are just plain fun
best part is if you are doing any sort of racing it will beat the 600's up intill about 100-110mph i think they do the 1/4 in like 10.83 @ 130 or so
or get yourself a 99-02 sv650 they are allot lighter than a ss bike and have way more torque thanks to the 90degree vtwin but they still rev to 11k, i have a 08 sv650sf that i bought just before xmass and paid 7200 out the door and bone stock with 350miles it put down 74.3whp and 48.6ft-lbs (@ 10,350rpm and 4,457rpm) they sound like a harkacotty (idle-6000rpm harley, 6001-11000 rpm ducati sound) best part is tho 50ft-lbs of torque dosen't sound like allot it is more than you thing (600ss's only put out about 32-34ft-lbs crank but arround 110hp at 16,500rpm)
or look at a used ducati monster 620 they can be had for about 2-3k with low miles and are almost as powerful as the sv (the 99-02 sv's are carbed but make the same power as the injected, the monster 620 makes about 58hp and about 44ft-lbs) also if you like the sv but don't want to buy used check out hyosung they sell some nice bikes and don't let the korrean name fool you they build the sv for suzuki and other stuff for other companys but they are cheaper
if you get an sv and plan to ride agressively i sugest you get a ninja 636 rear shock (about $25-30 shipped on ebay) and gsxr inverted forks with the better brakes and little bit wider wheel (easier to find good tires for the gsxr wheel and the inverted forks are only about $150-200 on ebay and you could sell the stock sv forks for arround that ammount it's deffinately worth it i did the sv650r conversion on my bike and love it (gsxr forks, wheels,brakes,rear set's and a moto gp style exhaust total was about $1500 in part's plus $7200 for the bike i have invested about the same as i would have spent on a gsxr600 and tho i can't keep up with one on the straights (best run was 11.34 @ 11
but i will rape even a gsxr1k in the corners and arround a track)
plus for $8700 i have way more bike than you could buy anywhere for that ammount of money (hell for that much you are barely getting a 1200 sportster from harlery and they only have about 35hp and 70ft-lbs and nowhere near the comfort or speed or looks)
sorry i wrote a novel but i was in to bikes before i started with turbo cars so i kno allot about bikes (i'm even thinking about running twin hih rhb3 turbos on my sv with about 8psi i should hit the 110hp mark and run mid 10's i hope but a single hih turbo at arround 12psi would do the same i guess)
