i think its a resonable price, maybe a little high. that bike won't be nearly as fast as the new 600s but it'll scoooooot along well. but you'll have everything else thats important like hanlding brakes suspension, etc...

the FI is nice though old carb'd bikes are a PITA if you have to change anything and don't have the right tuning tools.

i say get it and fun a lot of fun.

i just bought another cheap bike for this season, its a fj1100 one of the fastest superbikes of the 80s

wasn't running, paid 1k for it cleaned it up did a tune up starts up runs perfect

mid 10s at about 130.

its pretty ------- fast i raced an unknown size newer GSXR and pulled him so hard it was amazing for such a old bike.

riding a streetbike is one of the most fun things to do imo

A newer GSXR 600 has more HP and are over 200 lbs lighter than that bike. You probably raced a newer Ninja 250.

only the brand new ones 06+ i believe (could be wrong) are that fast.

Even the Y2K GSXR 600's have 100whp which is around the same as that fj and they are over 200 lbs lighter.


Not hating, you'd have the same response if someone said their Civic pulled hard on a Viper.

it looked like yours kinda except the exhaust was different. at any rate i raped him hard but i do have a broad usable powerband unlike the high peak hp GSXR

oh and i forgot... my fj has header, exhaust, cone filters... and obviously re-jetted etc prob good for a few hp

it looked like this one except with the stock exhaust

this is a 05, if he doesn't have it right in the peak power he's gunna lose

overall noel, bike is a solid choice my buddy has one, its cool, not overly fast but a good first bike if u were to get a crotch rocket

the fj1100 is i believe the 2nd fastest bike made in the 80s

only the GSXR1000 was faster and that was in 89

An 05' has 105whp which is probably more than your 25 year old engine even though you put on an air filter which is good for an extra 300hp. :


You really do live in fantasy land. Here in reality, something that is lighter and has more power is faster. Torque is bullshit. If torque mattered we'd all be racing diesels. So I guess if money were on the line you would bet on a tractor trailer beating a turbo Supra in a highway race becuase the torque is just going to own the peaky HP.
