correction, $800
1st time offence ususally gets you court fees of $100 and to get your DL back after the 90 days revocation is ~$700.
any money spent getting your DL back after that is not directly to the state.

in new mexico it used to be get pulled over for dui. lose dl. show up to court in a week cop doesn't show up. you pay court fees and get your dl back get pulled over for dui the next week end and it starts over again. then they wondered why the had people wioth 9-10 dui in a year. now the make you install a ignition interlock for you first offence

Lol, come to PA. Wheni its all said and done after classes/rehabilitation, court fees, fines its well over $2000.

drunk driving story:
i was kicking it with the homeboy one day and we kill by touring the redhook brewery ALL DAY. the tours are free and so is the beer at the end. on the way home we decide another 18 rack will be about right so i pull into a safeway parking lot. my dumbass friend then says "i bet your truck inst a rear wheel drive." at the time i was rolling a lowered b2200. i dont know if he was drunk or stupid so i said "oh yeah? listen to which end of the truck makes noise ok -------?" so i rev it up drop the clutch and start spinning the tires.
the complex was like an "L" shape so i had to go around a corner. i was still spinning wheels pretending my truck was a japanese drift car when i went around the corner. in the middle of the drunken corner i see 6-7 cop cars posted up in the parking lot, perfectly placed to see me blatantly break the law.
the cops were out of there cars, and 4 waved me down, shouting and putting hands on guns. i pull over of course cause im halfway drunk and not wanting to get shot. i hand my buddy my open beer and say "hide it" he's like "where the ---- am im gonna put it man? its a mazda" he ends up propping it up against his door with his right leg. he put his beer in his coat pocker or something. anyway the cop grills me and all that. i say im not drunk. im thinking he's about to bust out the breathalizer when he says "unfortuneately for me but fortuneately for you i my DUI arrest card expired 2 days ago and my training partner doesnt have one yet. park the truck, call for a ride, and if i see you on the road again im going to pull you over and wait until a cop can come with a valid card."
