----! i wish i had of taken pics al the way through!! This is now gonna be a long *** reply :P
Painting the wheels:
1. clean the ---- out of your wheels so they come out like new,
2, flat back all the old paint with 320 grit sandpaper,
3, Spray with grey primer, leave to dry for 1 hour and flat back with 1000 grit sandpaper
4, spray with the colour of your choice, and leave to dry for 1 hour, if a normal colour then flat back again with 1000 grit, but if its a pearl/metalic paint dont!
5, Use lots of clear coat over the top of it all and allow to dry for at least 1 hour!, Then use a lot more clear coat on top of that and leave to dry for 2 hours to allow for the laquer to harden properly and flat back with 1200grit sandpaper,
6, Then use a medium grade buffing compound to buff to a perfect shine
Polishing the lip:
1, strip back the bit you want to polish with 320 grit sanper so it is back to the bare aluminium,
2,sand down the area with 400 grit
3, repaet process 2 with 600 grit,
4, repeat process 3 with 800 grit,
5, do a final smooth with 1200 grit wet and dry paper using water,
6, then using a good metal polish rub like a bitch on the polished area until it comes out like glass!
Bear in mind that you should do any polishing first and mask that area up before painting the rest of the wheel, or else it turns out like ---- and you end up sanding your paint off
Also remember to mask up all the tyres, nothing looks worse than a grey primer tyre
Thanks, i hope this is of some use to you,
Matt
