Police searching Weller’s home ...found that Weller recently “struck the back of his garage at least twice” with his car.

I don't know how many of you guys are from the l.a area who have driven through that area but damn I get nervous down there. I have always felt that older individuals should have to atleast have a road test once a year so something as tragic as this doesn't happen or atleast lowers the chance. It just hits close to home because i've been to that farmer's market a couple of times.

A bill in the California Legislature requiring road tests for people 75 and older was killed in 2000 after senior citizen groups protested: http://kcal9.com/topstories/topstori...199011128.html

Senior Citizens usually make up the majority of votes. They have money and fund candidates. It is difficult to get any type of law passed against them.

i agree.. alot of old people are very capable of driving. But I also think that there should be standardized testing for old drivers like there is for new drivers. Should have written test and driving test atleast bi-yearly.

9 Killed, 45 Injured, We really need a law at least retesting old people. Or just take away their license after an age. Damn, it gets me mad when stuff like this can be prevented and inocent people die while just shopping or walking around their neighborhood.

With all due respect random ,lets see you have the same attitude when someone you know or loved needlessly gets killed or seriously fucked up cause some old person isn't paying attention. There should be a test for older people.

With all due respect fiero, so far it looks like this was a tragic accident and he was scared, confused, or just old so it really has NOTHING to do with what happened to your friends or what your talking about. Saying ALL old people are sick, they get off on doing things like this, and they just don't give a ---- is ------- retarded. I do agree with you though and think something should be done so things like this don't happen again.

I am sorry you lost friends because some idiot old person didn't care, but that sounds like a crime not an accident. Let's get all the facts before we start condemning all old people. What if this old guy was your grand parent? Would you still think the same way? Also remember one day you will be 85 years old and something like this might happen to you. You might be confused, scared, have alzheimers, heart problems, head injury's, etc...

Something similar to this happend with my grandpa and luckily the only thing that got hurt was the car and a tree. So you think my grandpa is sick, doesn't give a ---- about anything and trys to hurt people? Well ---- you because he never did anything to you. After the wreck we asked him what happened and he didn't even remember he got into an accident. Somedays he is perfectly fine and other days he doesn't know what is going on. Watching somebody you love go through alzheimers, old age, and other problems is one of the hardest things I have had to go through so until you understand both sides of the story stop making stupid comments.
