Going to the track on wednesday.. need advice
Wednesday is going to be the first time I have driven for a drag and I was looking for some advice...
I have 16 way adjustable suspension.... How should I set it up? (Stiff rear, soft rear, etc...)
I have a stock clutch that I don't want to rape unless it's worth it.... Should I powershift?
Should I just dump the clutch? At about how high?
I'll be running 205 es100's What psi should the tires be at?
I'm running 7psi on a stock block ka24e (240sx)
Any other tips or suggestions for better times?

in a rear drive car you soften the rear suspension and front suspension as well (helps with weight transfer) Powershifting is hard on clutches and trannies so dont do it if you have a stock clutch. Air down your tires to like 14-15 psi and do a burnout

Since your RWD go and read this for setting up your suspension: http://www.baselinesuspensions.com/info/Launching_A_Drag_Car.htm
That site is going to tell you more than a bunch of people who drive FWD and giving 3rd hand advice.
As for what RPM to launch at, only you can answer that question. You need to find the sweet spot between tire spin, bog and wheel hop. Since you have adjustables you can dial out some of the wheel hop.
If they are hard walled regular street tires than airing them down alot is just going to decrease the contact patch and make traction worse

No.

whitey is right, soften up the rear so the weight will transfer allowing your tires out back to grab a little better. I wouldnt go out powershifting unless you know the tranny can take it, which it sounds like it wont. You dont need to make a race car pass, just see how fast you can go in everyday settings. The sweet spot is pretty good on a turbo's ka motors, I launch a little low on mine around 3000-4000. I have wearing tires out back and when mixed with the torque of the ka they tend to spin, i have a feeling you will find the same running only 205s. Just practice your technique, and dont worry about banging shifts. I'd be more than happy to sacrifice a few tenths of a second on my timeslip to know i'm not towing my car home, at least until you upgrade your clutch and tranny. Be sure to send us pictures!!!
