1st I Saved about 15K dollars
2nd I don't like the 2004-2005 STi front, my car WAS the top of the line for it's year model and model style
3rd I made more power than an STi for less money for around 50k miles, 21 psi was fun. So the abuse and the tranny breaking is like blowing a d-series from overboosting, Why make the bottom line like the top line? Everyone here then needs to get Type R's and boost them. That just doesn't make sense.

The 2k gearset is an sti set from japan that will hold 350whp easy. The 4k STi tranny is bullet proof. But still that's a lot of money.

I might try to get a factory replacement, used transmission somewhere and take it back to stock then trade it in.

But I'll be rocking the civic for a while either way. I don't have 4k for a trans......Oh well......

Trade it. Sorry I just dont like any model subu. They are all fugly IMO. Not to mention repair costs. That there is the biggest deterent.

Oh yeah I'll check the clutch and pressure plate, but they are somewhat new, it's an Exedy stage 2 street kit, that should hold around 400lb/tq and it has been working great.

The thing that bugs me is that at that point I wasn't even getting on it, I was driving it like a grandma. Oh well.. ---- it....

If you don't mind helping a fellow HMT'er I would appreciate it. Let me know. I am now searching around the forums. I know the Subaru mechanic and one of the Orlando dealers, he might be able to just get me the 2 gears and break it appart, rebuild it and then I can sell it.

That sucks to hear but if I were you I wouldn't bother with the STI tranny as a local guy here has a STI and it just got a rebuilt tranny at about 80,000kms or 50,000miles.He mainly races autocross and sometimes friday night street legals and it has some basic upgrades like exh,ecu,intake etc so it's probably pushing 350-400 range.Im not sure if there is a AWD car made other than Porsches etc that can hold up to hard driving.

Have you tried calling some engine importers who get sube engines? Hell I don't even think STI front clips go for that much.
3600 for this STI front clip and even includes a LSD rear diff.

If you can find out if the JDM STI Ver 5 (96-97ish?) tranny will fit in your car my brother will sell you his dirt cheap.
