Found ANOTHER EF... Opinions requested again.
If you remember a few weeks back, I had a post showing a blue EF HB I found for $1,000. I dropped the ball on that one and it slipped away.
I found another one about an hour from home. Its a white DX model. Its got rust, but only surface rust at this point. Its got 123,000 on the clock, but the headgasket appears to be blown (oil in coolant, running hot). The accessory belts are missing, which consequently leaves the battery dead. The drivers spring needs replaced and the ball joint on the upper control arm has some play. There are a few other misc things that it needs but nothing as severe as the head gasket. He wanted $1,000 for it, which is INSANE so I offered him 300. He countered with $500 and I told him I'd think about it. Should I jump or wait for another to come along?
Its gonna need towed home, which isn't a problem since we have access to a large trailer and truck. I have a spare z6 that I can throw in and get some used UCA's and Springs/shocks and I should be good to go. How hard is the wiring job? Should I go OBD-I or stay OBD-0?

Its in Cleveland, Ohio. Just a couple miles away from Seattle
I do have another car, my EG coupe. I want to drive the EF around this winter while the EG's engine gets a rebuild and turbo.
The rear quarters have about a quarter-size spot of rust. Most of the rust is on the bottom of the passenger door.

well hell yes, if you are just wanting it for a winter car, then I would make sure that bitch has heat, and go from there. a 500 winter beater is an awsome buy.
buy it and just tune it up, change the fluids, and you have yourself an awsome winter beater.
