Default Ford stripped out spark plug threads?!?

My dad was driving his 03 f250 superduty home (5.4l v home one night from work and heard a loud bang followed by a retarded idle, driving real shitty. It turns out his spark plug blew out of his head and stripped the head out with it. I felt horrible because I was the last one to do his spark plugs (which are a bitch to do btw), but I was really ------- careful when I did it because its his baby, not to mention it was a year ago. I read up on it and it turns out that ford has had thousands of cases of their 4.6, 5.4, and v10 engines throwing plugs out of their engines since the early 90's. Supposedly they had done something to fix it for the 03 and on models, but lots of people are having the same problems now. The most retarded part is that ford says you don't need to change your spark plugs for 100k miles(which is a load of ----), and these are shooting out of the engine at around 50k and up. No recall at all on this, probably because ford couldn't afford it, the *******. Pretty ridiculous that the first new vehicle my dad has ever bought after driving fords his whole life has self removing spark plugs. Apparently there isn't enough threads and they loosen themselves over time. My dad was able to helicoil some new threads in, but whose to say it will hold, or that the other ones won't do the same thing-- not to mention you need to take the intake manifold off to get anywhere near the plug wells? Its bad because its his work truck and he's fucked without it, and the spark plugs blowing out not only ---- the head, but they ---- the on plug coils. A couple people reported the plugs blowing out through their hoods.

Anyway, a big ---- you to ford. Self changing spark plugs are not cool.
oh and hybrid SUV's are retarded

Ive done lots of 5.4, 4.6 and v10 heads for just that, I have never done one on a motor that I have changed the plugs on, or had og plugs but ive done plenty on motors that *****'s have changed there own plugs and even a couple fthat other techs have done. There are a few reasons for this, you dont just spin them in with a 2.00 socket and hope its good

Since Ford says they're good for 100k miles, just JB weld them in if it happens again. Problem solved

I heard about this too. I have a 98 E350 5.4, and I'm not trying to have the spark plugs fly out and be responsible for it. I called ford to have them ---- it up (change the spark plugs) and they said it would be like $4XX to do it. Haha, I think I'll just drive the bitch.

If my spark plugs fly out of my van today, EGgyLShatch will die in his sleep tonight. Deal.
