<----------- thats all rattle can, its not flat though. I used home depot purple paint, and just wet sanded and buffed the hell out of it. I put in a few car shows last year and it took home some tropheys. I havent had anyone tell me that they could tell it was rattle can until after i told them. Just goes to show what a little elbow grease can do.

says who? As long as your not trying to put a laquer on an enamel or vice versa there wont be any problem at all with painting over rattle can!
I've seen it first hand in a body shop last year. 3 stage and 1 stage regular old car paint... sticks like ---- and reacts with spray paint and cheap spray can primer. You gotta take it all off.

im my opinion if the rest of your car's paint is fine, just leave the fenders black and color match it in the future.

But I've seen some incredible rattle can jobs. Just did one a couple months ago semi gloss, it came out alright, but I wasn't too dissapointed it being the frst semi gloss I've ever done.

it was probobly enamel over laquer or vice versa, it just wont work if thats the case, it will spiderweb or fish eye. I've had two cars sprayed the correct way after using rattle can and it was fine!!! It all comes down to proper prep, as in any paint job!

Sounds like a few conflicting opinions going here. I always thought you sprayed primer on things to avoid rust. Yeah it promotes adhesion, but let's say your car gets rained on with just primer, how is it going to rust with a coat of primer over it? I'm thinking about putting primer on some things (flat black primer on some wheels I have)... so I'd like to get a more definite answer before I follow through with it.
