Re:Flames,and Back firing
the real way to make your car shoot flames is too put a spark plug about 3" inside youe exhaust tip then wire it to a coil so it sparks constantly. Truthfuly its more wiring hassle then anything. but if you want it can be done.
Beau
oh the spark plug is goin to be igniting the unburned gasses in the exhaust.

Re:Flames,and Back firing
My uncle did this as a joke on an old datsun 280z. He had a small propane tank in the trunk that ran through the exhaust with a spark plug near the end. He had it controlled with a switch on the dash. It was amusing when I was a kid, but I think it would be a good idea for ppl who ride your *** on the road.

it makes a big bang like a backfire and flames come out.i think that is more for performance then looks but who knows.
i might be wrong!

Any explosion in your exhaust can create a grenade out of your muffler.. This is BAD!
The old muscle cars used to do it by reving it up until the muffler loads up with rich fuel. then being ignited by an extra spark plug skrewed into the pipe.. These things hurt people!! Be carefull dicking around with it! its not the explosion but the flying sheet metal thatl get ya.

Re:Flames,and Back firing
I dont know if this guy wants a flame thrower or just for the exhaust to shoot out blue flame.... One time I was at the light and a black 3000Z pulled up and he reved his ----... and so did I... and then he was ------- around with a monitor in the car... when the light turned green his *** was gone.... and a small blue flame shot out the back of that ****.... damn it was sweet.... not like the fast and the furiouse (those ***** were flame throwers...) but im guessing this dude bumped up his fuel and ignition a notch just to whip my ***... it was fuckn sweet...
Wouldnt backfiring with a fucked up PCV valve ---- up your piston rings? dont know why this guy would want to backfire on purpose....

Re:Flames,and Back firing
he wasnt backfiring man! ok i consider a back fire when fire goes backwards through the engine IE through the intake. when your timing is 180 degrees off.
now fire shooting out his exhaust has to do with his fuel mixture and how much gas is present in the exhaust system. it is ignited because of the high temps through the exhaust when your pushing your car very hard.
i see alot of rx7 who have serious hp popping out flames al the time. plus the rx7 exhaust gases are way higher then any other car..

Re:Flames,and Back firing
ok retards, you're all wrong. :P
let me clear this up.
when cars sound like they're backfiring. they're hitting a rev limiter. the reason SOMETIMES flames come out the back of the exhaust is because all the gas that didn't get burned ignites in the exhaust. the rev limiter stops the spark and the gas never gets lit in the chamber.
