Right
Can't walk before you crawl
Not to put you down but even just aim to make double what the engine puts out. SOHC, aim to make over 200 hp. I personally am not jumping to DOHC VTEC because full time student part time worker can't afford to blow up a 2000 dolla engine because a vaccum hose blew off the wastegate and boost spiked. Try to get a little experience under your belt. You here is a lot but just read and search.
Make a list of what you want to accomplish thenlook for parts.
And seeing as thou you dont seem to be able to DIY a lot of stuff your self i would look into some pre assembled manifolds and stuff like that unless you have a lot of time and money on your hands to spend.
Good luck and see ya around the forums

"usta have a 99 jeep grand cherokee laredo. it was a nice ride but it lacked speed, so i traded it for a civic dx and have been a honda enthusiast ever since"
The v8 jeeps are faster then any civic dx, why, the straight 6 is probly faster.
450cc injectors probly wont support 350hp anyway. anything over 300whp isn't really worth it on the street.

Re:first project
i thought the type R was b18c5... not jus the b18c.. that's a gsr. u need more knowledge before u can build a beast. for starters any of the jdm motors are high compretion. especially the type r motor. you'll be needing all new internals and sleevs so you might as well go with something cheaper, ls-vtec will do fine, or even jus a plain gsr. u dont need the type r, its over rated imo... good luck with ur "project"

Re:first project
The B18c5 had the same code stamped on the block as the GSR since they don't have numbers after the b16a, B18C, D15B and so on. Plus I don't think they had a LS model name. I think it was called the ESi that had the B18B in it. There was the RXi, ZXi, RSi, XSi, Ti, Xi, Xi-G, Xi-4wd(yup a 4wd teg ) SiR, SiR-G, SiR II, Type R. The SiR-G is actually the GSR in Japan. LS, GSR ...pffh

i think that what members are saying is that you should read, read, read... and learn all the ---- other people have done and tried and then come up with YOUR OWN set up that is going to be realistic for you... not only that, when you've read all the info on this forum you'll be able to ask intelligent questions about 500hp set ups.
people get offended b/c most HMT people had to start with all the above at one time.
p.s. My personal oppinion is that high comp and boost owns!
