Man you got some serious skills, awesome job on the mouldings. Wish my car was nice and shiny like that. Hey question for you since you know what you're doing, can I cut and polish with a power polisher with a foam pad without having to sand the clear first?

Yes you can buff it without sanding it buff all you are doing is shinning all the imperfections in the paint. I would wet sand it and here is how to do that. The best way to wetsand on a "thin" paint job and the only way I do it is to use a paint stick and a squeege. What you do is wrap the 1500 around the stick and start sanding. About every twenty strokes or so take the squeege and check for shiny paint. Once most or all of it is dull you can buff it. I also only use a foam pad. It doesn't cut so hard and is more forgiving. I use 3M rubbing compund on the grey pad and then clean everything off of the car and use the grey pad (make sure you wash it out, it would be pointless to use the same pad you used for the other compound) with 3M machine glaze. Remember to keep the pad flat on the surface for this reduces swirles. After you are all done go get your favorite carnuba wax and give it a good wax job but only if the paint is a month old can you wax it. You can find non-wax products that only last a couple of days until you can wax it. There you go. have fun and don't sand through.

there is no point of trying to buff out the car... since nothing will happen... if you only shot 2 coats of clear coat over the paint ... get some more clear..scuff up the clear with a an abrasive scuff pad.... mask up the car and shoot 3 more coats of clear over then cut with 1500 ...buff with compound then polish with glaze... if you dont cut the clear there is no way you will get a shiny *** paint job..neither will you eliminate any orange peel that the car has...
