well seeing as it got towed heres what you do... its going to be impounded if it sat in front of your house for a while the owner prolly dont give a damn about it... a lien is started 3 days after the vehicle is towed and impounded... 31 days later it becomes property of the tow yard.. you go to the tow yard and pay the price they are asking which is usually the amount of tow and storage ($1180-1550, sometimes even less/or more depending on vehicle) but seeing as they dont have the keys for it im sure it should go for that range.
if it was on your property you could have filed a lien on it yourself and claimed it after the mailings and a 30 day wait.
