i have to wait another 2 days before i can file a claim, then wait 5-7days to get another shipped, witch could take another 5-6 days.

^ Good luck. I shipped a head once and when it got to the guys house the box was trashed and parts were handed to him by the UPS guy and said they were rolling around in his truck. Went to file a claim and after weeks they said that it wasn't boxed properly. WTF, it was in a minty fresh box stuffed with crushed newspaper per the UPS guidelines.

Yup I ship 200+items a month last thing broken was 2 years ago and it was injector clips. Anything heavy needs to be in away crated into the box. I make these out of us flat rate boxes so the thickness of the box is proably 6-7 times the normal thickness of a box. Then I wrap all cylinder heads,blocks in wrap I get from the local matress/furniture store stuff is sturdy. If it keeps things safe from China it'll make it to Iowa.



Then go buck wild on tape. You can get rolls of tape at harbor freight for a buck sometimes less. Dont be cheap use a whole roll it costs a buck on heavy items of value. Its pretty simple

us mail packing supplies=free
newspaper=free
plastic wrap at dumpster behind furniture store=free
tape=1 dollar

i ship all day at work, i makes that ---- work
anytime i ship any car parts they get foamed in place, unless is something small like injcetors, those get the buble wrap. i also staple that ---- then use the fiber-tape.

btw to whoever said they rebox ---- at ups, our tape & boxes have our logo on them, so you cant do that ----

that's nothing, I had DHL lose a $600 b16a transmission a few weeks ago I sold on honda-tech.. HOW THE ---- DO YOU LOSE A TRANSMISSION?

Anytime I've shipped anything large/bulky and heavy like a head, I've wrapped it in plastic bags, garbange bags, or saran wrap. Support the item in the box somehow (foam blocks), tape it up, then pump expanding foam into a small hole in the box. It's a paint to get it open for the customer, but it's damn near impervious to damage. A can of expanding foam is only $5 or so.
