Default Exhaust Muffling

My boss made his own bike, but his neighors are complaining its too loud.
So now, we're lookin at how to muffle his exhaust without actually buying a muffler

Idea we had was to buy a couple washers the size of the pipe and cut them in half, then weld them onto opposing sides of the pipe. Do you think this would be effective?

This is a 125cc engine with pretty much a straight pipe coming out right now.

What diameter pipe are you using, just two half washers doesnt seem like it would work as well as you need it to. You might be able to take two solid washers and drill several holes in them, and then weld them in both ends. It might be more effective. How quiet are you trying to make it?

It wont be two half washers on both ends.
It will probably be 4 half washers through the last foot or two of the pipe.

a known working method is to weld a washer onto the end of a smaller diameter pipe, 4 inches long or so, and stick that into the pipe.

make a fiberglass packed muffler for it, I took a blue bottle apart and used the center wholey part and put that inside the pipe and packed it with pink insulation on my old sled. Not the hole storey but I'm sure you can figger out what to do

you can baffle the pipe all you want but all it will do is change the sound not the decibal level. you need something to absorb the sound/energy.

i don't know the logistics of it, but there's a method of dimpling your exhaust piping, which reflects the sound waves and cancels them out. not really sure how it's done, but i believe the dimples have to be somewhere around 1/4 of an inch or a little bit less.

Yeah, thats exactly what my resonator is.
But I'd imagine you need some sort of special press for that.
