Aren't the diff pin part #'s superceded, so replacements are of a higher quality?? I'm not sure, think I heard something at one point.

Was your trans making any noise before it went?

joseph, i know what kinda noises these things should make before they go. this in NOT my 1st blown diff in a honda cable b series tranny. this thing was quiet. maybe it made a LITTLE noise when u let out the clutch at idle, but really not much, the tranny shifted nice, the diff didnt chatter, and i wasnt beating the **** out of it.

im just real pissed off that i havent even been able to really even drive the car, i had put it on the road less than 18 hours before the trans went.

and i DONT have the extra cash laying around to put an LSD in it. i really wish i did, that would solve all my problems, but finances barely even allowed me to get the car done.... ill be sticking another cable b16 trans in it on weds, we'll see how that goes

you can use a 94+ dif pin, they are a bit stronger, but my friend did blow his apart on 24" slicks

the 92-93 are the same as the 94+ but i have a 90-91 clutch, so im fucked either way. the trans i got is supposed to be mint except that its got no reverse, ill throw the reverse from ym bud tranny in it and it should be all good

I was just curious. Never had a B-diff fail on me, but I have sat in a D-series when the diff exploded.

which is funny, because ive never had a D diff fail ive never had a problem with single cam trannies. but this is my second B diff that blew up.

oh and JD, what i said before might have come off as "I KNOW WHAT ------- NOISES IT SUPPOSED TO MAKE!!" but it wasnt meant that way, i just know that they are supposed to start making noise, this one just gave me no warning... oh well, this just means im gonna have to keep a spare laying around

No, I watched Atlee go through 7 D-boxes. Shift forks, diff bearing whines that lead to some diff explosions, and one unannounced diff explosion.

I have a pile of 90-91 B swill, wish it were 92-93, although I've had nothing but luck out of the 90-91 stuffs.

the hydro tranny sports a different dif pin, they are different from a 93 which is cable, i think we'll see alot of cable trannys going now, cause people have just ran the ---- out of them, only thing that happens is the pin holds the spider gears inplace, it just gets bent because its not strong enough, things like dumping the clutch or using slicks and ---- just tears the ---- out of it, just keeps bending getting weaker and weaker, then b4 u know it u shift into 2nd at 6k and just explodes, obx lsd would work wonders.
