Re: ENC1101 Minimum Wage Paper
it's all about wanting to have better thing and live in a nicer area, that is why people do years of schooling to become doctors and lawyers. would be pretty messed up if you did 7 years of college paying out the *** for it and end up working next to some lazy ignorant bastard getting paid the same that thinks everythign should be handed to him just because he lives in the united states and thinks he is too good to start at the bottom and work his way up.

Re: ENC1101 Minimum Wage Paper
no one said ------- ---- about comunisim, this is about raising the ------- minimum wage so people CAN live off of it and have the opertunity to move up if need be. IF YOU PAY YOUR LOWER CLASS WORKERS A WAGE WHERE THEY CAN BAIRLY SUPPORT THEMSELFS ITS BAD for the ------- economy! they dont have the money to spend on extras, they cant go out to dinner, they cant buy new cars, they cant but all of these stupid little extra things. wich leads to a decline in business, wich leads to a lowerd demand, a heightend supply. so now we have to cut the supply and the workers who now make this product. not everyone can go be a ------- doctor or a lawyer. not everyones smart enough for that. but that doesnt mean they shouldent be able to live some sort of decent life. not some lavish upperclass driving a mercedes living in a 500k dollar house life. but decent. whats so hard to understand about that? What your all doing is supporting the rich. there not out to pay you a decent living. there out to may money for themselfs and pay you as little as possible for you to still stay at that job...if you dont do these basic simple things you're begging for capitolism to colapse on itself. you can only outsource so much, you can only rip your workers off so much. it drives the power of the country down and then it will just fall apart like all of the other super powers, like england, france, and spain.

but yea, minimum wage is based on the economy. the cost of living in arizona compared to WA is lower, but the minimum wage is also lower
you can get a 3bed/2bath in a decent area in seattle for like $3-400K, or you can move 10-20 minutes to the south and get the same house for about $100K cheaper, in a pretty good area

I agree, t-down on the socialism. Some people are content to work shitty jobs for shitty pay, if you make them not care about it by raising the minimum wage you really kill the economy, they might actually have to go to school or learn a trade like everyone else. You might have to rely on someone other than the government to get ahead in life. Just look at some of the guys on this site, they might have little or no schooling and some of them own their own businesses or have gotten sucessful in other ways, some people just try harder than others. And Stillnoturbo, my hourly job makes more than your salaried job

Re: ENC1101 Minimum Wage Paper
If the minimum wage raises, then people will bitch that they have been there longer and are only making slightly over minimum wage. Everyone will then demand more money, cost of living will go up since people are now making more money and the chain reaction wil continue.
In California, even if you make double the minimum wage, you will still have trouble being able to afford decent housing which is why you have households with 10+ people living there.
So if you raise the minimum wage, the value of a dollar goes down, so it is as if you never got a raise in the first place.
