Default Elantra turbo?

Anyone turbo a Hyungay?

Basics are its a 1996, 5 speed 4 banger, apparently about the hp rankings of a z6 from what edmunds tells me.. 200,000 miles, new clutch and other crap, $450. Is this even worth it?

Hell for 400 I'd take it. If it was a little older then you could find one with a 4G67 motor. My wife had like a 94 and it's basically just a 1.8L NA 4G63.

through a hint by turbostd and some internet searching y0 ive found that this engine is shared by the tiburon as well... not the greatest but not too bad. 2.0 140 hp.

Fastest I've seen turbocharged with this engine so far has been 250 whp. That kinda blows but maybe I'm snooping in the wrong places.

250hp on a stock engine with the run of the mill tuning ---- is pretty nice.

It didn't specify whether it was stock internals or not... if so that'd rock

Guy emailed me and said "Midas told me that the transmission has about 10k-20k left in it.. it makes a whistling noise when you downshift... and they told me it's going to be needing replaced. I just had a brand new clutch put in recently as well."

wtf, a whistling noise?

on one hand yeah its a cheap car but its not going to give you much back. i'd say not really worth it. unless you happen to have 450 just laying around.

x2

I had a freind with a AT version, they arent to bad if you want a DD with decent milage. For 400, hell yeah I'd buy it. They drive OK. Look into the Scioupe, Im not sure which mitsu 4 they use, but there were turbo models. Cheap mani&turbo FTW possibly.

---- it, you can probably bargain it down to 400 or less. i'm sure you can pull a tranny off a scrapped elantra for cheap enough. just dont expect it to last very long. i'd say make it the project car, who gives a ---- if you blow something, at least you tested some ---- out on it yourself .
