DVI to component (RGB) cable - can this work with a computer?
I have an LCD TV that I want to try to use as a monitor. It has a regular analog input, RGB (for HDTV) and S-Video.
Both Analog and S-Video won't have enough resolution or clarity for me. I want to utilize the RGB inputs on the TV. So, I went on the hunt on ebay for a DVI to RGB cable. I found one that I thought would work, but when I tried to use it, I got nothing. I went back to the auction and found a notice saying it wouldn't work for computer's DVI outputs.
It says "Your Video Source Must Provide a YpbPr Component Video Signal form the DVI-I Video Ports to Use Cable".
I haven't found a DVI to component cable that is just straight up RBG and not the fancy HDTV RGB... anyone know if a cable like that exists? Thanks.

stop calling a component cable RGB, cuz its not.
Comopnent is just that, Component.
RGB is another name for the VGA input.
Have you tried it out? A friend of mine has a 29" LCD and he used VGA and it was perfectly clear.
Just make sure to match the PC resolution to the LCD Native Resolution (which is probably 1366 * 76, put the PC to 1360 * 768 and it will look awsome.
playing a DVD through that will make a regular DVD look like VHS.

You're buying the wrong thing because you don't understand what signal you're using. What you need is a scart adapter that will connect to your pc and give you a yellow regular video output to your tv. The other option is if your tv actually has a pc vga slot of dvi input use that. You can't use the component adapter because without an HD video card you're not putting out a component signal.
btw: hdtv doesn't work over rgb.
