Re: dvd byrning problem
not saying Jorsher is wrong.....
but it could be a software problem. as if MS software never becomes corrupt.
besides, getting a cracked DVD burning software literally takes a couple mins of time for DL and install and cost $0.00
its worth a shot IMO

Just saying, wouldn't surprise me if it was hardware.
Does it fail with all software? have you changed media brands?

it wouldnt surprise me either if it were a hardware issue.
i'm just trying to point out that I personally would try everything else before spending money on a laptop dvdr drive.
if you have never taken apart a laptop, i wouldnt recomend doing it, especially on one that may be your daily user computer. there are a LOT of things you can ---- up. its not like a PC.
some laptop drives are much harder to replace than others. Some are as easy as pushing a button to eject the drive (like Dell)

Yeah i don't plan on tearing into my laptop. It is my daily use computer, besides my dads desktop. I will just be buying an external dvdr drive. I googled m1617 firmware and m1617 software and didn't find anything usefull. But ill try anything, so if you can find something that might help, post up.
