dumpvalve
What is the reason for using a dump valve in my turbo system? Does it really work or is it only for that psssshhhh sound?
Some guys say that it really works and some guys just say that it's a waste of money...

a blow off valve? yes, they have function, it is so when you let off the throttle the remaining charge air in the pipes will be released. At higher boost levels this can be a problem if you dont have one. Not to mention if you dont have one, you get a really annoying sound, called compressor surge.

lol..."that really annoying sound"...I like that. Honestly tho, jeff is right, its a good thing to have. At higher boost levels you can actually damage your turbo if you don't have one. Imagine your turbo spinning at full boost and then something stopping it dead in its tracks. When you lift off the throttle all the compressed air bounces off your TB and heads back to your turbo hitting it like a ton of bricks. When high enough boost levels combined with repeated slamming of the turbine you can actually break your turbo. So guess what..I recommend you buy one.

Re:dumpvalve
Also if you get one and you are only gonna run 10lbs and under, dont buy a super expensive racing one. It will not vent off enough air, and you will still experience compressor surge. A 1G DSM bov works great for hondas running lower boost levels.
