I actually use the cold rev limit very often. I never let anything warm up really maybe for 10 seconds to adjust but thats it

i'll get in the civic and go. I usually warm up the is300 before leaving. Unless i'm running late. I was late to work almost everyday this week. And i live a mile away and there is only 1 traffic light lol. how is that possible?

Thats what i get for using 10w40.
But i would rather be safe then sorry i mean my car has 215,000 miles on it.
I don't romp on my car untill its up to temp because the turbo doesn't like to spool with lots of oil pressure and a cold engine.
Yea same here, my turbo hardly spools when cold, so I give it a minute or two just because its annoying..

For the DD I let it run for about 15-20 secs before taking off... More than enough time for the valvetrain to quiet down. It just sucks when I sometimes need to pull out in traffic and mash the gas when the bitch is cold

My wife used to start-n-go, but I've since nipped that in the bud. Now I'm working on her "excessive" use of the a/c in the Expedition. It's about 5 minutes/2 miles from her work to the house, and the a/c takes about a minute to cool down anyway... I think I'm fighting a losing battle with this one though, since summers are about 110* outside. I tell her, "you've got windows...".
you're one cheap bastard, how are you going to prohibit your wife from using ac? I start up and go, never had a problem.

my foot goes down before I even start the thing, so I can immediately peel out of my parking space. nothing like screeching tires at 5:15am.

With no spark plug you need that engine warm. Why do you think they keep diesel vehicles running all the time?

For me it depends on the season. Summer time I usually wait till the idle drops a little then I'll go and drive easy till it's up to temp. (98 civic). My Winter rides (Toyota truck/4runner) I don't do ---- till its warmed up, especially since it's like 0 out constantly. I run 5w-30 too in the winter but sometimes I think it's too much viscosity at cold temp. I can just feel and hear the engine crank hard.

warm or cold out, I fire the car up, grab clipboard and write down my odometer reading (courier) plus other paperwork.

Takes about 45-60 seconds.....then I drive away slowly.

Cold SOHC's and try not to rattle the pistons while they are warming up.

300,000 miles so far, I think I'm doing something right.
