What is this, GDD delayed by 2 days? I keep seeing topics in GDD and then 2-3 days later the identical topic pops up here....

Yea of course I let it warm up. I wait until the idle drops in the Cav (like 30 seconds), the DSM I let get to the first mark on the temp gauge (2-3 minutes).

I usually start the car and just keep it on the rev limiter till its warm. Warming it up is for pussies.

You joke about that, but this guy at work has actually done it a few times in his Taurus.

I'm more of a "roll it down the driveway and pop start it with the pedal mashed" myself. My Dr Boost anger gauge goes sky high, but the car's still running.

At work they did a piston test where the engine was started cold and immediately taken to 6400 rpm at FULL LOAD for 30 seconds. Then it had something like 30 min to cool down with water being pumped through it to cool back down. Then it was started over. This went on for a couple months. I was able to look over the components after the end of test tear down and surprisingly everything looked really good. The pistons wouldn't pass a scuff test but it was nothing that would hurt the engine. The biggest problem is the amount of fuel dilution due to the cold cylinder walls.

I start my car and go. I don't hammer on it or anything but i just drive easy/normal.

In related news, i saw one of the new engines off the assembly line grenade because the dumbass on the line didn't seat the wrist pin clip all the way. Theres nothing like seeing a $30,000 engine destroyed in 45 seconds. It just put an evil feeling in my stomach.

Less load on the motor when you're idle compared to 3000rpm pulling your ~2250lb car and your fat *** down the road. I don't see how that can be so hard to understand.
