i usually start it and sit there till i feel the oil has circulated fully and keep my foot out of it till up to operating temp. from what i have read and engine will warm unevenly if it is just at idle. it needs a load on it, but not beat on it

Their opinion was letting the engine idle was 2nd worse to railing on it which was obviously the worst thing in this guys eyes.

I always fired em up and tried not to hit the floorboard until the temp gauge was starting to pick up off of cold. But otherwise i never had a car i cared enough about.
Fire up your motor and put your hand on the exhaust manifold. Tell me how long it takes to warm up at idle. :1 Depending on the outside temperature, my motor will be at operating temperature in about 4 minutes. I can't see how jumping in and driving off "slowly" is going to be any better than letting it sit and idle for a few minutes. I'd really like to see some sort of test or something on this.

Noob, meet fist. I don't care that I havent had a turbo project. I have more important things to pay for in my life. If I really wanted to I could be turbocharged but to what end?

BTW if you truly knew anything about this site you'd know I'm close to 20k post than anything (In the 17,000 range as of now).

I dont think i let it warm up. I just get in it and go. I should be more careful i guess.

i wait for the idle to drop, and then just go. after the car has built up oil pressure what difference is there when its sitting there idling up to temp or driving down the road?
