I have a 7 month old pup and I have him crate trained. I got him at 2 month old. He went potty in the house like 4 times total. What seemed to work for me was just to constantly keep a eye on him for the first while and catch him in the act of doing the bad behavior picked him and and sat him out side till he went potty then rewared. I was shocked as ---- how well it worked honestly. For the first while the best thing to do is, while he is not crated to just keep a constant eye on him and while doing bad disaplin without abuse and he will learn fast. What kinda dog are you working with scott?

i have two little white house dogs and a 4 mounth old pit bull. I never hit them hitting them just makes them scared of you.when my dogs were 2 mounths old is when i start to pottytrain. when theyed go to use the bath room in the house i would stop them telling them no and take them out side. when they go uot side give a treat after one week my dogs got the hang of it

crate training is the best method to potty train a dog at any age, but most dogs cannot control their bowels until they are around 10 weeks old or so, thats why you should not spank a puppy for going in the house, they can't hold it, er they don't know they can rather.
if you take your dog to an obediance school they will tell you that they are not there to train your dog, they are there to train you.

well, the whole reason i made this thread is cause my dog took my white hat outside and put it in the mud, didnt even tear it up, just dropped it in the mud. so i hit her with it quite a few times. shes probably about a year and a half old.
