It's actually super easy... just hook up some probes to some sensors.

Analog scopes suck for sharing results, freeze frame snapshots, portability, etc.

I'll probably end up with an analog BK unit or older Tek at some unit for "beater duty," but the majority of what I'd use a scope for... analog is cumbersome and awkward.

Just get an analog with a Polaroid backup... that's some hardcore ---- right there

For balancing -

Would you just position probes in a way to measure contrasts of voltages until they "level" out?
