Re: Dirtiest, Cheepest, JB/Birdshit welded, gangster HMT set-up contest.
I may be able to take this one.
32K mile damaged engine, $200. The damage is from a roll-over that totalled the car... the exhaust cam gear was trashed, the exhaust cam broken, last cam cap split in half, and the intake cam was chipped.
Notice the crack in one of the bosses the driver's mount bolts to? One of the bolts had entirely stripped the threads out of the block and was missing, the other two bolts were bent with threaded bosses stripped and cracked. $25 at the welding shop and helicoils FTW!
I was too broke back then to afford a cherry picker, so the shortblock was wrestled in by hand:
I used one of these to do the heavy lifting:
Enter free .50/.48 turbo and $56 rebuild kit:
I bent the oil feed line out of 1/4" stainless for a sum total of $8:
This is a really good view of the PCV charge pipe, gangster lean of the radiator, and my use of zipties:
The original MAPhack board... this was before freeware boost code, and AFCs were gay ways to destroy an engine. $15 at Radio Shack to build a voltage regulator circuit and feed the MAP sensor 3.1 volts. I used Ghettodyne + $50 Batronix chip burner to get the job done with this sweet little jobber:
The only set of non-steelies I have ever owned in my life. When the tires went bald I threw the rims away with the tires:
The joys of bad turbo seals, oily rear bumpers, and friends who love you:
Glory days:
And, for those of you who still doubt that I am the ----------ing king, here is a picture of me humping a downpipe:
(Imagine that's your gf, mom, or sister)
Seriously, most of the rig jobs here have nothing on my CRX. Mine ran correctly for under a hundred bucks, ran for 15K of brutal flogging, and had some one-off trick ---- I did myself. The MAPhack was my invention. I did PVC before any of the rest of you. No one else does hard steel oil line. No one else has a picture of them humping a downpipe.

How do you like the Tractor Supply Company muffler? It's a straight-thru design, right?
