difference between sprung and unsprung clutches?

Re:difference between sprung and unsprung clutches?
I have been told, on a unsprung cluth, the clutch is either engauged or it isnt. so daily driving becomes a real bitch. especially if you have alot of traffic or stop lights/signs.
get a sprung clutch.
get a sprung clutch.

Re:difference between sprung and unsprung clutches?
This is how i always understood it: the springs themselves arent what makes the difference between having that on/off feeling and a normal feeling clutch, thats the type of disc itself. It just so happens that no one (that i know of) makes a full-faced (street-style) unsprung disc. Anyway, a pucked-style clutch isnt that bad for driving on the street, even in traffic imo. Anyway, as far as i know, having a sprung disc just gets rid of clutch chatter and makes it a bit smoother to engage

Alright well my setup is:
dohc zc
zc/ex hybrid tranny
i/h/e
and my stock clutch w/ less than 1k miles slips when i really get on it.
my turbo setup is
log manifold
t3 .42/.48
dsm 450cc's
2.5" dp
intercooled
dsm 1g bov
turboedit
delta 272 cams
lookin for about 180-200whp on stock internals. I will be upgrading to some better pistons/rods and then lookin for 250-300whp.
now once ig et the kit finsihed i know my stock clutch is going to bite the dust. The car is for daily driving but I dont really mind a stiffer clutch...
one thing i'd like to do is break the tires lose from like a 40-50mph roll. So i'm assuming being in like 2nd gear and then dropping the clutch at about 7k will break the tires lose w/ a unsprung better than a sprung right?

Re:difference between sprung and unsprung clutches?
why would you want to rev it upt to 7k from a roll and drop it just to spin the tires?...just make some real power and spinning the tires wont be so much work anyway, i dont think being sprung/unsprung really effects the clutch's grip other then the fact that the unsprung disc will be lighter

A lot people are here like to come up next to you when you're just driving and rev the ---- out of there domestic rice (cavys/sunfires/neons) and act like they wnat to go from a roll on. i just want to lite my tires up from a roll like that just to show them that i ain't ------ around. becuase even if you smoke them by like 10 cars they are still like, i almost had you...if i didn't do.....[insert bullshit excuse here] blah blah blah....
