If you really want to know where your tax dollars are going, look to the local high school and the idiots it's turning out. MN pays over $10,000 PER STUDENT/PER YEAR to teach jack ----.

There are states that don't have an income tax, like Florida and some others. If you don't like taxes, don't vote for ------ democrats.

We've been rated #1 in WNC by a couple of online travel guides, have a killer wine list, blah blah blah blah. I sold $892 before taxes Saturday night, averaged 20.9% gratuity that evening, worked 6.5 hours, tipped out 15% of what I made to the busser. You do the math.

PS - we need a dishwasher, would you care to submit an application?

Sounds cool. Thought you were waitressing at some eat 'n park type of joint. None of the jobs I'm getting are career oriented, basically I want to get there, be left alone for the most part to do my shift and get out. Don't give a crap about the job, the place or anything. I do my jobs thorougly, I'm not a slacker but I just don't really care. Most of the places I go to that work close to minimum wage have people who make maybe $8/hr and have worked there for years... I promised myself I'm going to get a job that I enjoy but also one that I can handle a family with someday if thats the route life takes me. Seems to be working fine for you

And btw that pos. would work well if I actually lived in the same state :P

No, it's just another shitty service job. If you stopped being so nice and unassuming and exercised some drive and determination you'd be able to land a crappy job just like this one with nothing more than running your mouth and a little work, but you still have some concept that keeping your mouth shut and staying in the hole busting your hump gets you ahead. I wish things worked that way, people take all the joy out of my life.

Got back just shy of $1k, paid about 300 on previous years taxes for state.

Took the rest and bought a $550 electronic locking differential for my Jeep, and some steel to build my new front bumper, and then little odds and ends here and there.

$158.46, not bad for tips. Do you still get paid an hourly wage?

Yeah, it's $3-something now with the new minimum wage. Doesn't pay all my taxes.

I'll be honest... I work at a shitty place making $8 an hour (temp agency at LG electronics), but the work to pay ratio is nice. I am a "team leader" of two other people (which makes me feel bad because I'm a third or half their age) working 4pm-1am. After everyone leaves and we get the work done (usually takes 2-4 hours), we all go sit in a breakroom that has a fully decked out kitchen, a couch, a 50" plasma, home theater, and all the cable channels. After 7 months, they finally decide to hire me permanent, and today they told me I'll most likely be promoted to a nice office job, with my own little office, where I'll make a "lot" more than what I'm getting now, probably only $14-18 an hour but still more than what I get. Full bluecross/blueshield coverage with a $15 copay, blah blah. Unfortunately, I have to take responsibility. This is usually something I avoid, but hell, it's about time I get a "professional" job. People will be bitching, it requires a degree which I don't have, and I'll continue to be over people that are more than twice my age and have been there many years longer. Pays to be intelligent I guess.

Last year I only made about 19-20k (not including illicit income) which was still nice compared to what I made previous years. I just turned 22, pisses me off that I've been slacking for past couple years and should be graduating now, but this promotion should give me the motivation I need to get back. Gov't gave back $1500 which is ALL going to debt. Soon I'll also be selling my car, and a few other items, and buying an older honduh, to hopefully finish off the debt. Then get back to school and learn from my previous fuckups.
