Not trying to attack you Frank, but Sony likes to make non-standard hardware and then hype their product to try to derail the market and make themselves the only game in town, much like Microsoft. That's no way to keep prices down... and look at what their batteries did for Dell. :P

Dell did the same thing a few years back with their ram...using some funky *** dimms that kinda go in at an angle

Problem with Sony is your paying for the name and from what I've heard, they only accept Sony Parts. No other Computer Part Manfacturer's part can go in.

other brands are good, dont get me wrong, but i cannot find another laptop with a 17" screen, and a nvidia 7900gs for the price i got mine, or even close, so i say dell because im cheap and it was one hell of a deal, this laptop is pretty much a desktop replacement for me and its on 24/7 never no problems, few others i were looking at that were also really good were asus brand laptops, i found those to be a good build for the price, as far as it goes for a desktop, make your own, desktops are always shitty anyways from dell, compaq,hp,gatway, for laptops its a different story.

If you are looking for a dell laptop, keep an eye on slickdeals.net .. dell has some real sweet coupon codes fairly often...if you keep ur eyes open, you can score a laptop for a real nice price
