Buk - those cars may have potential, but the main problem you run into when working on old cars like that isn't finding performance parts, it's fixing all the crap that breaks when you try to work on it.
By this time all the plastics are brittle, as are any vacuum hoses, and the wiring could be sketchy as well. Usually with cars of that age, anytime you touch anything under the hood, stuff breaks. And you can't exactly go down to autozone asking them for a specific connector.

also that sort of thing usually isn't noticed, untill you try to start your car later, and it's running like *** and you don't know why.
Four days later you find out that when you bumped that vacuum hose with your elbow, it crumbled and made your car run funny.

Save your money for something newer.
you must not have any good auto supply stores around you. you buy vac hose buy the foot anyway. it takes 20 minnutes to replace all of the vac hose on a toyota if you already have the splash guards off. If the floor boards were cool and everything. I would get that ------- supra in 20 seconds, man. That is one of my most favroite cars.

I understand what you mean about being able to replace the vacuum hose easily, but I was talking about toyota specific connectors and such. I went through this scenario with my first car, and I had a hard time enjoying it because I no matter how many things you repaired on it, there was always something else wrong. it's the weakest link in the chain type thing.
Really takes all the fun out of building a car if you ask me.

the sensor and injector clips pull right off if you're smooth with a screwdriver. ive never broken one in my 87. plus the cars only 600 bucks. its expected that ***** going to break, and not be reliable.

which is precisely why you save your money and don't buy something that's $600 and breaks all the time.

But all cars break down, no matter if its new or not. I think if he wants a project, pick one of these cars, and do a complete restore

Yeah, but theres also no point in buying a 2000+ dollar car thats reliable to molsest and turn into a project car.

True, I just hate it when I want to spend money on my project car for things that make it go fast, and i can't because I have to spend more money on things that just make it run.

To clarify how I handle working on cars: I love working on my car to make it faster, I hate fixing my car. That's why I'm not a tech :P
