well, a mod chip is gonna cost around 30 bucks.
also here are some hints. never close the tray with your hand. use the reset button to close it. when you wanna switch games, reset it, and take it out. also, dont play cd games. ps2's dont like cds. ive had three stop working completely from playing some stupid game called war of the monsters. also, puting labels on it can ---- with it to. just use felt pen.

huh? what the hell are u talkin about? im lookin for someone to do it for me? half the stuff you mentioned is basic? ive had my ps2 for like 5 years and the only problem i've had is the stupid ps2 trey cover like fell off... a little glu and slap the bitch back on and badda bam. any mod chip installers?

right now i'm using an unmodified ps2, along with a slide card and the swapmagic disks. I have yet to find a game I can't play with this. Whole thing costs $30 and you don't have to mod your ps2 at all. you can get this at www.modchipstore.com

there is some no solder chips out that sell for 30 bucks or so.Another out would be to buy a slide card and boot disc, basically you take the cover off the CD tray on your ps2 then use the boot disc to start the ps2. After its booted you use the slide card to move this lil thing that is holding the CD in and pop in the burned/import disc you wanna play. If you have a gameshark you already have a boot disc, just use a credit card and a paperclip as you slide card

kain you probabl had the first gen ps2, the 30001, those things are known break, but some work fine. It's usually the laser, this little thinga majigger, whatever.
Hmmm, maybe i'll buy a mod chip and chip my ps2, i used to do ps1's so it shouldn't be tooo much of a problem, only thing is they advertise ONLY 17 WIRES, god damn 17 wires. I just prefer not having to swap disc, call me lazy, or maybe i'll get those 'Game Enhancer' type things. :shruggs:

well i had everything accept the last generations. the first one i had, still works, but its fucked up and only plays CD games. the other one i had, some kid fucked it up by popping the CD out withought hitting reset, and the 3rd on i sold it mainly because the eject function just fucked, and some how messed up and the thing wouldn't recognize that it was being reset. i also got the mod chips where there where like 20+ connections. they where small as ----.
