Day 2 the suckage continues... yet another blown motor!!!
Ok yesterday's motor failure was my fault. I should have double checked the block before installing it. My bad. So I ordered new rings, main bearings, etc. Hopped in the old trusty civic (stock D16A6 with a D15 head) and gave it a crank...
It had been running just fine the day before. Today everything was not fine. It was running on 2 cylinders. I double checked the plug wires, ECU wiring, everything. Coolant was low, oil was a little low and quite black. So I pulled the plugs. #3 was covered in oil. Completely covered. Doesn't seem to be firing on #2 either.
I got so pissed I drove it 8km to the parts shop and 8km back. Motor is done anyway so I don't care. For the last 50k I've driven the **** out of it only carefully changing the oil etc at regular intervals.
Can you believe my luck, 2 motors in 2 days? These were my 2 rides and the wife drove down to Florida for the week.

Damn, that's some luck you have. Sorry to hear it. When it rains, it pours. It's bound to get better though.

Re:Day 2 the suckage continues... yet another blown motor!!!
Thanks for the offer. Unfortunately socal is a good 5000km away... I need a working car.
In both cases I had spare motors lined up and ready for rebuilds. Unfortunately in both cases I did not have all the parts I needed to make them go.
For the honda I'm going turbo. I've already obtained Z6 pistons for the D16A6 block with a mini-me. Question is, which rods should I be using? Stockers are pencil thin. LS rods seem to be a bit of a pain to get ready. Are there any cheap aftermarket rods that just drop in?
