Default CRX decision

I'm getting a CRX this summer. I have one that i found for $300. THE BAD: D15 w/ blown head gasket and no oil cap(wiht several other problems i could probly find with a thorough inspection). Thw whole pasenger side looks like someone took a T-post(fence post) sideways in the ground and ran the car down it. Both bumpers are cracked on the passenger side. The interior is shitty as hell and the body looks like it was spraypainted. Also the rear wheel wells are rusting out. THE GOOD: I'm swapping to a built/boosted B16 anyway. I can gut the interior to lighten it up a little b/c buckets and 5 points are goin in anway. I know how to do body work so fixing all the dents/rust shouldn;t be a problem. I don;t really want to replace the bumpers but can if i have to. ALTERNATIVES: Leave outside the way it is and go for the "sleeper" look.

It;s either this CRX and do a lot of extra work... or get a CRX shell for $500 and go from there. (This will be a weekend street/strip car and I have a daily driver)

What are your guys opinions? I will have around 2500 to sepnd on a motor after i get a CRX and I have a summer job that will put me up about another 3K to spend on it at the begining of fall. I want this to be running good by the end of next summer (September '05), so time isn't an issue yet.

We aren;t talkin about the same car because the Si's have the 16 in them. This one has a D15. I live in Missouri. Right out in the middle where it is hard to find nice cars. There are a couple rich people in town though. There are a couple wiht lancers(no evos), 1 240sx, 1 porsche carrera, 1 viper (not an SR/T just R/T) and a bunch of hondas. Oh and a few boosted eclipses. but that is about it for performance vehicles. By the time I get done with my CRX it will be one of the fastes cars in town, and it will be the fastest one that races. There are a lot of show trucks though. I think i will go over and do a thorough check on that CRX that is pretty trashy just to see if the car will be worth getting and just slowly fixing up. I will make sure that things aren;t too messed up beyond repair. The guy I'm getting it through is a dealer and he goes to kansas every week to a dealer auction. He said he would probly be able to find me a nice CRX shell there for a decent price. I am going wiht a B16A. Is there a difference between the B16A1, B16A2, B16A3....? The Si transmission is the good one right? I know the Hf transmission is really wide open(bad), but i'm not sure what the good one is. I know the car starts, but it runs horrible and it hard to start( moisture in the cylinders and low compression). The guy said his mechanic thought it was a blown hed gasket. It's got a title and everything so i could probly call the old owner and talk to him about the car. If i got the VIN could someone on here get me a carfax on it?
