ive yet to own a 4 stroke thats needed any valve or timing adjustments, i have had some experience with 2 strokes and they all sucked dick.

lol you must not ride very hard. :1 ALL 4 strokes need valve adjustments and when they don't get them done on a regular basis, they run like total ***. I'm not talking about the bike you start up and ride 2x a year for the past 2 years. I'm talking about bikes that actually get USED.

I've never had to rebuild my motor twice a year and haven't "fouled" a plug since I bought my bike brand new in 2002.

YGPM - I've read up on removing the oil injection already. It's defintely something that I'll do soon.

Well, I live in the city so I have to drag the quads like 45 miles away to ride them. So..maybe once every few years I'll need a rebuild but I've looked into that and its not too costly or difficult. Plus, my wife's 4stroke will always be there with a tow rope.

You're 4-stroke runs nice for now, but once you have to start adjusting valves and timing chains you'll wish you didn't have them. :1
oh i know that ----....lol....everyone that had a blaster that i knew were either a smaller person or bought it for their gfs. and trust me, i know all that ---- about 4strokes too. don't get me wrong, i loved my banshee and the power it had, but i just like the 4stroke cause you don't have to tinker with them as much as you do with 2 strokes

I always laugh when the reliability issue comes up. I own both a 2-stroke and 4-stroke, I was 14 when I got my first Banshee and I'm 26 now and still own one. I learned the people who are saying 2-strokes are unreliable usually:

1. Just go off of what they heard from other people and never really have first hand experience
2. The owners themselves are the reason the bike is unreliable.

I owned my first banshee for 6 years and never had a single problem with the bike and I beat the ---- out of it. I used to do linelocks until the radiator hoses would blow off and it would still run fine. Less than a week after I sold it the trans exploded and took out most of the bottom end. The trans exploded becuase the new owner didn't like how hard the clutch was to pull in (it had heavy duty springs in it) and tried to adjust the basket, fucked ---- up which led to its demise.

So a bike that was fine for 6 years lasted less than a week in the hands of an idiot. The people who say 2-strokes are unreliable are the people who don't know what they are doing.

witney is right in most of his post.

but a nearly all 2 smoke engines are made to last a certain amount of hours. it depends on the engine. and usually those hours are very few. now a lot of 4 poke engines are made the same way... but the hours are usually longer.

in the book that came with my yz250 it says it needs rebuilt every 11 hours. i don't necessarily believe thats always true, it depends on how you ride and what piston/rings you use mixture/etc...

but my yz did run out of compression aprox 10 hours of run time which surprised and pissed me off.

It took a long time for me to realize this. I used to have to do the top end of my blaster after every race. Now my vito's 240 blaster has been running for two years and I beat the ---- out of it. Eat 400 4 strokes for breakfast.

wrong. some 4 pokes have hydraulic valve that never need adjusted.

the only time i've adjusted my valves on my raptor is after the breakin and they were still in spec.

i check them, still in spec... about 1000 hours later. still smoking fools

yeah, i had my banshee for a year and rode the **** outa it and didn't have a problem with it, same when i switched over to a 4stroke, but what i ment is that a 4 stroke usually isn't as high maintanence as a 2 stroke and thats what i like about them. only reason i switched to 4stroke is because i did more woods riding and i got tired of fouling plugs on my banshee from riding too slow or slamin into trees from riding too fast, there was no happy medium for me on the trails.

Yeah, but EVERYTHING you own is better in every way compared to the stuff normal people have so you can't compare. :1
