With my b16 before the turbo I hit 3rd instead of fifth once in the middle of the race. On my way home I looked at the peak recall on my tach and I hit 9800, the motor was bone stock and took it like a champ.

you are fine I bounced off the rev limiter a couple times with my old motor no problems

Or he could have had a broken tach... mine used to get stuck at the high rpms.. so i could tell how far i revved.. a couple times of smacking the dash fixed that problem.. now my stereo ***** up... hmm ill try smacking the dash for that too, then i give ya guys a write up about it
