Default Corolla went to the drags today!

The day started bad,I went to back the corolla off of the trailer and i had NO clutch The slave cylinder failed so i took it off in upstate NY and drove 8 miles to the nearest NAPA. Not a single slave in stock but he did have some basic power tools in the back.We used a 1/2" wheel cylinder cup and ground down the back of the slave piston so it was flat. It worked fine so i took it down the track for it's 1st run with the MS,a very respectable 12.6! My friend angel from willamantic went in with the laptop with some additional timing and i went 12.3@109. Next came a 12.1 and I ended the day with a 11.87 at 20 psi,29 degrees of timing on c16. I am amazed that a stock block could do this. My 60' times were not great, I was spinning the DR's off the line even at 9psi and baking them after the water box. My best 60' was a 2.88 and i was spinning all through 1st. Slicks probably would of got the 60' times down to 2.6 or so but i had a great day. If you were there this is what the car looked like:

After looking at that model Rolla, I never noticed or maybe it's just me. They resemble the 3rd gen (78-83) Chevy Malibu coupes. I just looked at yours and just remembered my stepdad's red malibu coupe with those same weld wheels he used to have. Not saying it's a bad thing but just a mere observation. This isn't his but just a pic of one to compare it to. Cool car though. How much you looking to get for it out of curiousity?

Do you mean 1.88 on the DR's and slicks would of gotten it down to 1.6?

My little starlet got some 60's down in the 1.5's on dot slicks this weekend....damn fun Keep the toyota, sell the escort

Yea, here are the stats:
R/T .........243
60'......... 1.827
330"........5.041
1/8..........7.682
1000"......9.952
1/4 mile...11.895
1/4MPH...116.09
I was tired last night when i made the post and was thinking of the 100 foot drags i went to.
Of course i want 3 times what is is worth and your 1st born! I don't know,i was trying to come up with a price that is fair to both parties, probably around 5,000-6,000. I will have to add up some receipts to narrow it down. Evil, what track do you run at?

I went to a little 1/8th mile track in Illinois this past weekend. I-57 dragway, and it was a blast. I have been to 5 different track (1/8 and 1/4) and this place has made them all feel like a ice rink. I even had a hard time doing a decent burnout, it was more sticky back 2 feet in front of the water box than most tracks are on the launch pad. Almost wacky. Only got 2 runs in before it started to rain though, kinda sucked since this track is 100miles form home.

Best pass was the second one, could of used a couple pounds more in the tires as the car was all over the track. Going to try and go back next weekend with some race gas and 5 or so more pounds of boost. Going to take somebody that can operate a camera also. Heard I had the wheels up about 4-5 inches

60' 1.55
1/8th 7.01
mph 102

Where are you located? I'm in a tiny southern Indiana town called New Harmony, IN

I live in connecticut, I thought you were from the north east. I have slicks for the car but i did not bring them. I was shifting at 5,800 rpm but it was feeling like the power was falling off so i did the last run shifting at 5,000. Probably if i play with cam timing I could use higher rpm but this engine does not like rpm. Stroke is too long but it makes good torque. I have no idea what kind of HP it makes but my butt-o-meter was telling me to shift earlier and it was right. On the last run i was running 29 degrees of timing with 20 psi of boost. My EBAY/crappy boost controller topped out at 20. I am going to get a 3 bar map and a better boost controller and go back in a week or two and bring the slicks if all goes well.
