I don't like amphetamine.

Give me some opiates any day.

Jimmy is giving me a free sample of his new guy's stuff (not the ripoff last time) but I gotta wait until this job thing is figured out

Something like that. Sums up psychedelics.

Altered state is the best place to go for different perspectives. Depending on the drug, you can take an extremely analytical, or obscenely simple approach to whatever is going through your mind. Seemingly difficult problems can be easily solved when you don't have personal emotions, past experiences, biases, or any other ---- clouding your judgement. I used to be an anti-depressant/anxiety prescribed depressed ---- until a fucked up trip that made me realize if there's something I don't like, fix it, and to approach things with a "---- it" attitude.

Then again, I've had a trip where for an hour or so I just wanted to die to get away from the anxiety/fear/paranoia I was experiencing. Fortunately, I was too fucked up to do anything but lay on the couch curled up in fetal position until a friend helped me snap out of it.

Can go good or bad, but either way you're going to experience something that would never manifest in the unaltered state of mind.

The altered state can be less wierd than reality. You know, the reality where aliens don't exist?
