Computer Help needed !!!!!!!!!!
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME
I keep getting this damn blue screen error saying this. Yesterday we had some guys come do work in our basement to finish it off, and they blew the breaker while i wasnt home. so i come home and try to fire the computer up and this is the error i get.
yes i searched google, chkdsk /r etc, but when i put my xp pro disc in, and reboot, it wont load. it'll ask me about safemode and the rest, but i cant get hte ****** to load my disc. i've gone into the bios and change it to load first, but nothing.
anyone have any idea how i can get this thing back up and running?

seems that something on your motherboard has fried. if you cant reinstall inblows, thenget another motherboard or something. usually an unmountable boot volume means that the parts of the hard drive thats ment to stor the boot secotor is robobly fried. try doing a low level format.

Unmountable boot valume is the 1st sector of the hdd, which keeps info of the windows file system and ---- has become croupted.
Running chckdisk /r or fdisk /mbr does sometimes fix the problem.
what u need to do is, Boot from the windows xp instlation cd follow through a couple of screens and it will come across and say "c:\windows" has already got a windows xp instlation.
it will then give u acouple of options which go sumat like
1) use the recovery console to recover windows (r)
2) install a new version of windows (i).
U need to chose the option for windows recovery.
This will eventally boot u to the screen that asks u to log onto the windows instlation.
chose option 1 and press return.
It will then ask for the "administrators" password. Put it in, and press enter.
This will then drop u to a screen which says
c:\windows\system32.
U then need to run chkdisk /r
This will compare the drive info and files, and shouls over write the old ones.
once this has completed, can take 30 mins to 1 hour, maybe more depending the speed of ur comp.
u need to reboot, take the cd out, and all should be well.

travis u need to put that floppy into the pc
and boot off it.
then u need to chose the option to load the cdrom drivers.
Once loaded, i want u to put in the windows xp disk into the pc. (if u have windows xp pro then use the pro disk, if u have home, then use the home disk.)
Once this has booted up it will give u an error which says, Sumat like .. cant find a correct file format.
U need to ignore this.
Now this is dos.
U need to navitage to the cdrom drive.
It should be D:
U need to type in
D: (press enter)
this should show
D:\>_
Then type in
CD WINNT (press enter)
now it should show.
D:\WINNT>_
U need to type in
WINNT (press enter).
Once done this should load windows xp setup, follow my 1st instruactions
and boot off it.
