Default Computer help

My dell laptop is fried. power cord connection goes straight into the motherboard and was broke then fried my motherboard. Not to horrible cause gives me the opertunity to build a desktop and i just got a job at a computer builder/repair shop so i can use discounts. Anyone have any leads on barebones kits or online suppliers i need it. And any accounts of faulty parts or bad experiences are even more valuable. Only thing im sure of right now is im going with a 250g harddrive.

Those questions seriously depend on what the primary use of the PC is going to be. If you're just building a gen purpose rig you're going to get different advice than if you are building a gaming setup. What do you want to be able to do when it's all said and done? Are you planning on running windows or some *nix varient on it? That makes a difference too.

Wow...and you work in a computer store...

Just pay me to put ---- together for you and ship it to your door, seriously, you'll come out of it with a less expensive, more kick *** box then any other options you have.
