Default common DSM problems?

i have the opportunity to pick up a really really clean 1g talon tsi, but the owner tells me the only thing keeping it from running is the "coolant engine oil line"

i assume he means a coolant line to the turbo though, because he mentioned the turbo somewhere in there also..

anyone have any other suggestions on what to look for with problems? how tough is it to change the coolant line?

uhhh I have owned 2 1g turbo dsm's, wtf on the coolant line, that has nothing to do with it running, does it run or not? common dsm problems, lol where do I begin, well before I get started, if they are in good shape and are not plauged with problems, they are very fun cars with just a few mods, but the "common issues" CAN be extensive. here goes:
trannys are junk
t-case is junk
(although the tranny and t-case will last if you dont beat the ---- out of them and run GM synchromesh in them, assuming they are in good shape to begin with)
the upper power steering line always leaks at the pump
dry rotted stock charge pipes, the rubber ----
very common to have idle surge/ valve noise on cold start up
If the t-belt and balance shaft belt don't get changed EVERY 50-60k miles they will break and destroy the head
clutches don't last long (again based on how you drive it)
blown head gasket is common, check for oil in the coolant/coolant overflow, and pull the dipstick and see if the oil looks overfull

those are the most common big problems I can think of, now, like I said, if you get one that has a decent tranny and good running motor, a full 3" dp/exhaust, modified MAF with k&n filter, a walbro fuel pump, an s-afc, and an evo III 16G turbo @ 20ish psi will turn you out, and all of these mods can be done for around $1200 with a bit of afc tuning.
I always had fun with my dsm's

hahaha

ok bumpity.

went and had a better look at the car!

its not even a turbo coolant line, its a oil cooler line right in the front of the car, he went to start it one day and it happened.. hasn't been driven since!

is there a p.s. cooler on the awd talon turbos? or such a thing as a p.s. fluid cooler.. other wise it is an oil cooler line.

Lol, just check the color of the fluid, that will tell you weather it's oil or tranny pretty quick =P
