I cant tell you school is great and you should enjoy it, because id be a hyprocrit. I currenty go to school part for reasons i havent even fully convinced myself of, and i only go part time due to the heavy workload ive brought on myself running a business. I have no complaints or regrets though. Last semester i was attending school full time and running the business and it was killing me. So i made the desicion to cut down on school as it was least enjoyable of the two. School itself and some of the knowledge you can take from it is very important. It really all comes down to what you want to do man. Getting up early is something i dont like either, but its ok if its for work or business, i couldnt do it for school.
My advice to you is this:
#1, stop smoking bud and starting practicing that welding you want to do at home.
#2, put a little effort into passing your classes this semester
#3, Take less classes and take them in the evening next semester.
#4, Try some new work in your freetime, work with friends, relatives or whoever under the table, or just do walk throughs and see if you like what their companies are about.

Whatever you decide, God bless and good luck.

Thanks dood for the advice. I was thinking about online classes. I dont really know the first thing about welding so i cant just start doing really.

is the stress of a business worth it? My longterm goal is to go in business for myself eventually, or get into stocks or real estate with extra money i earn from my career.

It really depends on how you feel about working for other people. Another thing you have to really decide on is if you can do something you like, that you can actually justify as a legitamate career as opposed to working for someone whod pay you more. Also, without seed money or some decent helping hands, be prepared for a couple years of sacrifice of most of your free time, its all about helping the people your servicing out, and until you have all your connections set up, it takes more then 9 - 5 to get this done. However if you enjoy the business your in, you dont mind working 12 hour days Online classes might be just the thing for you, but they are very easy to not "attend" either. Take 1 or 2 classes man, trust me on that one, and yes, you can start welding with a 99 cent book and a $150 wirefeed welder. You can learn quite a bit from that. Get busy, and dont give up on whatever you do, Working a job or starting a business can be just as hard and tiring as school, So you may just quit one thing after the next if you get in that habit, 1 or 2 classes... Attitude of a Champ..
Take care Man.

you ---- face, no wonder you cant concentrate. lay off on the bud

option A:

well since you havent really "gotten into" being an accountant, just work on your AA degree (general studies) and hopefully you have an idea what you want as a career by the time you finish. (while working part time)

option B:

work on your AA degree (part time) and work full time/apprenticeship

u cant do full time on both, coz itll catch up to you and you will burn out and end up with nothing.

either way, stop smoking ----. so many people say that merry-jah-wah-na isnt addictive, because look, "I smoke this ---- everyday, and I'm not addicted."

ya.. ok buddy

okay I am on the same boat as you. I've been considering dropping out of college because I know that the time I spend enhancing my mind by filling it with fantastic knowledge which for the most part isn't entertaining, I could have been making a LOT of loot. And when I say a LOT of loot I mean about six figures a year, and mostly paid in CASH. But despite how appealing 6 figures is, I still give myself a wedgie and go to school, it's been 3 years and I still have a long way to go and I'm still goin. So I say, stay in school and finish that ----.

well, either way you go, there are going to be good things and bad. You need to look at the big picture.
Kinda sounds like you've got too much of a good thing going on with your easy *** job, good money, and
good weed? I know how those seattle buds are.. very tempting ----..

Since your the only one who can make this decision, nobody can really tell you to do one or the other,
so i'll just tell you about my experiences...

I moved away from home at 18 to go to work full time and take care of myself. I thought to hell with school,
I didn't think it would be usefull and seeing so many people drop out.. it seemed like a huge waste of time..

After working for 3 years at a couple different jobs I hated, I couldn't take it anymore.. You've got to
work to survive, Everyday, and thats just reality.. Unless you win the lottery or something...(doubt it)
So I started thinking about school, and what I could do that would keep me interested and happy
for atleast the next 10 years..

After some time, I couldn't think of anything really that I was interested in enough, so on a whim,
I decided to go to MMI, only because it was something I had dreamed of doing when I was a kid..
Now here I am, halfway threw school, in a completely different city, thinking wtf? ..

Anyways.. Since the school only takes 1.5 yrs to complete, it's not that big of a deal to just stick it out..
And the more I learn, the more I realize that for me, just the accomplishment of it all is really what
matters. If I can do something start to finish, its a notch on my belt.

My advice to you?

Take a short break from school if possible? Work more hours, smoke more weed, get that ---- out of your
system.. When you hit bottom. pick up where you left off. IMO I'd hate crawling under people's houses
in huge fucken spider's nests, or pumping ---- out of someone's basement.. but thats just me..

just my ----, take it or leave it..
whatever you decide.. your gonna learn either way.

It certainly helps if you know what you want to do, it makes it easier to justify doing the work and paying the money if your certain that this piece of paper is what you'll need to lead the life you want. College isn't for everyone though, there are alot of great careers where it is not important to have that 15,000 dollar per year piece of paper. I'm on my second year at the UW and it sucks *****, I have teachers that can't speak english, classmates that are homos, and an education that really isnt up to par, and yet i still go everyday. I think most people find themself in this struggle of "what am i going to do with my life, i need to decide now as not to waste any more time and money" but the truth is you may never know. My mom works as an accountant and makes good money, and yet she still tells me that she doesnt know what she wants to be when she grows up! So I would suggest just riding it out for a while, or take some classes you might not had concidered, you might find an area of interest you really enjoy, but had not previously thought of?

Well thats just my two cents, but best of luck on your decision, which ever you make, just remember things always work out...

Hmmm, I went to college, I have a 4yr degree basically in electrical engineering/technology. Took me five years of college to get it and I really hated most of the time that I was in school, but I got my degree. Now the bad part is, I do not have a job that relates to my degree and I have never even tried to get a job that was related to my studies. I always loved car audio stuff, so when I got out of school, I took a "summer" job at a shop that a friend owned, worked there for six months. In 94 Best Buy started opening stored in our area and I got a job there, worked there for 2.5 years and then went to another independant shop for 2.5 years and then back to Best Buy for a little over 4 years until I quite in May of 2004. When I quit, I was making over $16, but I hated working for such a large corporation because of all the stupid little rules, power trips and politics. July of 2004, a business partner and I opened our own place, and it is actually pretty cool EXCEPT we get no salary at this point. Almost all of it goes back into the business to help it grow. Like the dude from LSDMotorsports stated, when you do this you have to be willing to make sacrifices. College is not for everyone, nor is running your own business. I look at it this way...I don't use my degree, but if I ever need it, it is there, nobody can take it away and I don't regret having it even though I hated school. If I ever need to, I can take a few refresher courses (i am sure a lot of the technology has changed) and I could probably go out and get a job using it and most likely making good money. Hopefully what I chose to do will work out and it won't come to that, but it is nice to know it's there. Now on the flip side of the coin and to make things even more difficult to decide, my wife had like 2 semester's of college and she makes just a touch over $60k a year. I guess it ultimately depends on what your willing to do and how hard your willing to work. Good luck with your decision.
