Default Clutch Chatter

Clutch chatter

What is it?
What causes it?
What does it feel like?
What does it sound like?

In general, I've been researching aftermarket clutch kits and they talk about chatter.

it chatters when you engage it when you first start moving. dont know why. i think its because its grapping but slipping a bit so there for it grabs and slips and it shakes. it kicks though not very hard though. u get less chatter with a clutch with a sprung hub

with stock clutches, its typically when the clutch disc is warped.

But i have heard that some unsprung aftermarket clutches just chatter anyway, due to rough engagement.

Chattering is an engagement property.. What it is the vibrations from the crankshaft transferring to the transmission and its parts. The springs in a clutch disk are supposed to absord this vibration and give a smoother engagement, unsprung clutches tend to feel like the car wants to stall when u first take off.. unless u slip the clutch that is.
Hope this helps
