chassis code explanation
may sound like a newbie question but does anyone know the codes honda uses for the different body styles. example: EG EJ EK EF etc.
I've been under the impression that 92-95 civics are EG, but I've seen people refer to them as EJ. please explain.

Re: chassis code explanation
It's just simplier for people to understand when you refer to the different generations. I refer to any 5th gen as an EG and any 6th gen as an EK. My "EK" is really an EJ8, but most people will just get confused.
You don't need to be exactly technical about it when you simply want to relay what generation you are referring to and throw in "hatch", "coupe", "4-door", etc.
It works like jargon.

Re: chassis code explanation
its so confusing when ordering parts off German ebay, because they get the EG series earlier than the states, and they use the codes more than we do, I ordered 3 doors before I finally got the correct one, and when you ask the sellers what car it came from all they can tell is EG3 2 4 etc. they dont use the term hatch, coupe or waggon. its terms like fleisen heck for hatch . limozine for sedans, I have no idea what they call coupes.
