No reason to have this battle, it is all personal preferance.
Mac also turns out a far superior product to most Windows manufatcurers. That is why they cost so much.
That is why I build my own, windows computers are crap from companies, or you Pay more than a mac to get the same amount of performance.

Exactly, as far as personal use goes its pretty much down to personal preferance. If you step up to a professional level such as video editing and recording, pretty much everyone use macs. I have never seen a PC in a recording studio, nor have I ever used pro tools on a PC. No one uses 'em and I would never chance running a session off a PC.
As for the dual processor G5, the second processor is just for graphic redrawing so if your sitting on HMT, its not really gonna make much of a difference.

Very cool. Are you guys using avid on PCs or macs? I'f your using PCs I'm guessing these things are built to the ****.
Digidesign has been pushing way more windows based stuff. Avid has an interface that only works w/PC (can't remember the model but you prolly know). They say they sell more windows based products but then fail to mention its Mboxes and entery level stuff...

Avid's on pc, we have 3 older ones that are ibm's i think the new ones are hp.
avid and apple have problems with each other (since they are big competitors) so i wouldnt be suprised if they try to phase out there mac line in the next couple of years.
Those avid machines suck though, you make the slightest mistake, and you have to pay an avid tech to come fix the box, one of our editors got some weird disk error, well we decided to format and all this crap, and we couldnt find the drivers for the video card, and all hell broke loose basically. Its not as simple as going to avid's website and gettind drivers, or ibm's website, Now me and the other tech here in the office refuse to touch those machines. We have some pretty sweet stuff, some day i will go back there and snap some pics
