ford thunderbird/mercury cougar
2.3 turbo
v6 supercharged
5.0 & 4.6 v8

ford explorer
2.3 four banger
2.9, 3.0 and 4.0 v6
4.6 v8

the ford ranger comes with I4 & V6 engines, and ford's svt team made a prototype V8 model called the lightning bolt. it was supposed to be the little brother to the lightning, but it never saw production.

Umm I've never heard of a 4 banger explorer, and I think you're wrong. The only 3 engines that I've known are the 4.0L OHV V6, 4.0L OHC V6, and of course the 5.0L V8.

doh, you're right. the old explorers were based on the same platform as the ranger. got my specs messed up.

fieros came in 2.5 4 cyl 2.8 6 cyl and one rare model a 2.7 6 cyl

you guys ever seen that cadillac that had a 4-6-8 engine? i've only seen one, but the engine was some idea that never made it.. the car runs on 4 cylinders while idling and coasting, then 6 and 8 cylinders when needed. I guess they were junk becuase they didnt catch on.
