can taking off your cat. converter free up some hp ?

Default can taking off your cat. converter free up some hp ?

i didnt believe it worked but not too long ago i took mine off and replaced it with a piece of straight pipe and my car is faster and feels like it has more power and it make my exhaust have a nice deep tone . is it just me or does it work ?

Um yes it works great but you really need some backpressure unless your turbo which i doubt so it might have a lil more topend but you lost torque. Ricer

not turbo yet but i have plenty of torque i can do way better burnouts than before i took it off, am not a ricer

I took off my cat and now 2nd gear goes to 65mph. Before it only went to 59mph. Since removing the cat my floormats seem to repel dirt a lot more too. Oh yeah and my NA honda has a lot of torque.
