thats they way to do it. go in right after high school and live in the barracks til you get out, save all your money and take classes while you are serving.

Well its hard to believe that Ive already been to OIF, OEF, and then back to Iraq in 04-05. Now they can't seem to call anyone else that hasnt been shot at to go.

Just feeling for the wife. We have a 2 yr old son, and a 4 mo. little girl. and Tonight will be the first night in our new house.

I'm not complaining about going, its just that its really going to up root my family.

My dad just resigned last month out of the Corps. He ranked major year before last, been to Iraq 5 times already, and his squad was supposed to go back sometime next year. He was like ---- that, and got out. Im not sure how safe he his from going back though, be resigned, not retired. He had only 5 years to go but had like 2 more tours in Iraq lined up. WTF?

Could some one give me a straight answer to why we are at war?

I hear ya. I enjoyed being in the Corps, but being deployed every other 6 mos takes atoll on a persons body, and family. I got burned out and decided not to re-enlist.

They stuck me with the big green weinie once again

technically we are not at war, according to the president, we are on a peace keeping mission, hense operation iraqi freedom. I get the news of former co-workers, and friends dying daily in iraq, so tell me if this is peace keeping.

After Sept. 11, 2001 my brother got the letter from the Marine's and pretty much they want you to get pre screened so the Marine's have you currant address and medical and home situation. the letter does'nt 100% mean you are getting reenlisted.

Secondly we are in Iraq because we gave Saddam and his regime plenty of time to straighten up and he didint. We also needed a platform in the middle east other than Israel, to support us. So we killed two birds with one stone and got rid of Saddam and help Iraq start a new country. The problem is that we went in assumeing that everyone was going to be happy with us and we forgot that 95% or the worlds population outside of the USA can stand Americans. Because we have Big Macs, Hummers and we are all getting fatter when the rest of the world starve's

this is true. But why would they have me fly to Kansas City, Mo. to see how my medical and home situations are? Oh well. Its on there ticket. We'll see what happens. Maybe its nothing.

Could they send anyone that won't create undue hardship? I say divorce the wife and enroll in graduate school. haha.
undue hardship? Steve....you didn't even make it through boot camp, Air Force boot camp at that. I'd suggest you think twice about bitching about hardship.
Its quite simple really. The Marine Corps needs him for whatever reason...they don't just pull ---- out of there ***....(well, they do but they dont. Only another Marine will know what im talking about... :P) He signed up, he got recalled. Its life. And you libs (Yes, thats what I call you now Steve, remember when that was a bad person...) think this ---- is just gonna end at the snap of an election. <-you.

D15B...I will tell you though, i've seen a lot of guys get recalled, and very few go back into the fleet...what i've heard (and you know thats how ---- goes) is they screen a ton of people, usually some say "hey, ill re-up for some $$" MC says ok...people who don't wanna go, go back home.

Good on you for not looking down on it.

Franky, you might think you know my history, but you don't. I graduated boot camp and then went to Sheppard Air Force base where I waited for 3 months to get into school, only to learn that "Aircraft Maintenance" really meant, "Tire Service attendant", along with the 24 hour government approved babysitter plan. Decided it was a waste of my time and wanted to live life and start a couple businesses, which I did. Now I own my house, have two businesses, two kids, and I scratch my ***** and go fishing whenever I feel like it. When you get out, you'll be in the same position as you were the day you went in, except you'll have this Military experience, which isn't any form of degree from what I hear. Hopefully that will be enough for you to get a good job, and eventually buy a house, etc...... things I've already done.
Hey, we need a military, and I'm not downing you for being there, but next time you think I don't know exactly what I'm doing, when I'm doing it, and why I'm doing it, you are mistaken. Send me my wing.

Actually, we decided to commit to enforcing the UN's resolution by sending our military (and national guard, which is a STATES national guard) to be a police force in a foriegn country. We have big macs and hummers, but they really don't like us because they feel like we're trying to control the world. Simple as that.
