Cable Or DSL?

Cable Or DSL?
Ok. I realized that dial up is just not cutting it anymore. So I was looking in to high speed internet and came across an option of choosing Cable or DSL. I was leaning towards cable because it seem cheaper and faster from what I've read from earthlink. However, when I ask my friend they say go "DSL" its cheaper and you wont experience lag. So Im wondering which all do you guys have and which one should I get?

Re:Cable Or DSL?
with DSL u will most probally get a upload/download limit of 1gb which isnt much if u use the net alot.
DSL might not be as fast as Cable, but its true that u never get any lag or ---- like that cuz its usuallly a dedicated Line.
Cable has no limit, u get faster download speeds. But this is a shared connection and u might suffer some lag during peak hours whenever everyone is using the cable (such as the same building or area.)
So basically its ur choice, Oh and im not sure about DSL but some Cable operators dont allow P2P sharing programs to work.

p2p is sharing ---- with other users, progs like LimeWire and Kazaa.
I have cable (50Kb up, 450Kb down), don't really notice any lag at peak hours.
Just make sure you don't have some sort of download limit, otherwise if you start downloading movies, you're in trouble soon.

Re:Cable Or DSL?
Ive had both.In cali I had cable. It was the ----.Never experienced anny problems with it.Pages would load instantly no matter how many or how big the pictures were.
here I have DSL couse I had cable for a week and it only worked like 2 days.I got pissed and just got dsl.Its still pretty fats but no where near cable.
as far as the price I found that it varys from state to state.

p2p=peer to peer like kazaa. i'd go with dsl, i have dsl and it's fast. like he says cable isn't a dedicated line like dsl and when too many people are using it, be it for the tv or the computer it has lag. even if you live in a house where the houses are weparated, unlike a townhouse.
other houses stil share the same cable wire.
